Crew 2000 Volunteers
Crew, a drug counselling and drop in shop for young people with the focus on harm reduction, has recently launched OASIS - a website with an online self-help programme for people who use cocaine and alcohol and wish to cut down or stop their use.
As part of this, we are recruiting volunteers as peer mentors and their role would be to provide online peer support to the participants on the programme by email and chat room.
International Women's Day Lecture - Harriet Lamb CBE
Join us for The University of Edinburgh's Inaugural International Women's Day Lecture by Harriet Lamb CBE. Harriet Lamb is the Executive Director of the Fairtrade Foundation UK.
The lecture takes place today (Monday 8th March) in McEwan Hall,Teviot Place, Edinburgh, EH8 9AG at 5.30pm (Doors open at 5.00pm) and is chaired by journalist and presenter Sheena McDonald.
All are welcome to this free public lecture.

It's Rag Week
RAG week is a once in a lifetime opportunity at university to spend your time having a laugh, meeting new people, raising money for charity and having experiences you never thought were possible.
This week you can go to the Teviot Beer Festival on Friday, the People and Planet Ceilidh on Thursday and you can also take part in the Charity Bungee Jump which will take place on Sunday 13th March in Bristo Square.

NUS Scotland welcomes Mike Russell finance announcement
Mike Russell rules out tuition fees regardless of Browne Review and commits to review the student finance system in Scotland.
Speaking at NUS Scotland’s Annual Conference in Dunfermline, Mike Russell, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, pledged today never to reintroduce tuition fees in Scotland - regardless of changes to top up fees in the rest of the UK. The Cabinet Secretary also committed to a review to find a Scottish solution to ensure students, colleges and universities are funded to the level they need.

Over 7000 students voted in the EUSA Student Elections on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
You voted:- President - Liz Rawlings with 3864 votes (Laura Jayne Baker had 2468 votes, Tom Crewther 608 votes)
- Vice President Academic Affairs - Stevie Wise with 3621 votes (Ross Stalker 1209 votes)
- Vice President Services - Sam Hansford with 3360 votes (Ellie Price 1842 votes, Gavin Hume 289 votes)
- Vice President Societies and Activities - Amy Woodgate with 2596 votes (Neil Pooran 1662 votes)

Fair Trade Fortnight
It's Fairtrade Fortnight and there are a variety of events you can get involved in to celebrate and raise awareness of Fairtrade across campus. The previous generation of students led the nation in helping Edinburgh University become fair-trade but there is still so much that still needs to be achieved.
A coalition at Edinburgh hopes to turn Scotland into a Fairtrade nation and lead the world in helping those less fortunate than ourselves.
